HELENA – The State Administration and Veterans’ Affairs Interim Committee meeting has altered its Jan. 27 agenda and will now discuss the vacancy in the Commissioner of Political Practices office.
Susan Fox, the executive director of the Legislative Services Division, will give an overview of the process for filling the vacancy and Mary Baker, program supervisor for CPP office, will discuss office operations during the vacancy.
David Gallik resigned as commissioner Wednesday amid allegations from his staff that included he was doing work for his private law practice on state time. He denied the allegations.
Gov. Brian Schweitzer then sent a letter to majority and minority leaders in the Legislature: “I am requesting that legislative leadership send me a list of nominees for the office … no later than close of business on Wednesday, January 25, 2012.” That’s two days before SAVA meets.
The duties of SAVA, a bipartisan legislative committee, include monitoring the political practices office.
The meeting is 8:30 a.m. in room 137 of the state Capitol.
